Earlier this year, New York's El Michels Affair released the warped Ekundayo Inversions, essentially a dub remix of Liam Bailey's album, Ekundayo. Now El Michels Affair announces the forthcoming The Abominable EP, and drops the second single, 'Messy Grass', following on from 'Cham Cham', featuring Piya Malik. To our surprise, 'Messy Grass' greets us with a mad scientist synth intro. Throughout the track, guest artist Tamer Pinarbasi plays a strung lap instrument called a Qanun, which sounds like a cross between a guitar and a harp, giving the track a swirling psychedelic feel. Electric guitar riffs and frenzied synth lines join over symbol splashes on the drums. The Abominable EP is due out on Big Crown Records November 26th - keep your eyes peeled! -Ellie Rose-Davies
